Hi all. Apologies if there is already a thread looking at this. I’m a recent diagnosis with lupus. I have severe photosensitivity, the killer for me is I work in a hospital covered in florescent lighting. The ones in our office don’t even have any diffusers on them. It’s a nightmare. Work is looking to replace lights in our office. I’ve read the eclipse guide to lighting (very helpful). The 1st step is probably going to be to move to LED bulbs as they are slowly moving to LED bulbs across the hospital anyway. However they are more blue/bright white. I’m keen to also look at UVA filters for the office as well. Does anyone have experience of using any? I’ve found it very hard to find products to suggest to my workplace.
I also noticed that I think I reacted to working in a dark room with a different computer screen. Can you react to some screen light? I developed the tell tale tingling, redness and heat.
Thanks in advance.

Note that with popular LED bulbs/lights there is the option of choosing a warmer LED, less blue/white, more yellow/amber which is easier on the eyes!
Same energy use but less luminance/lower temperature.
Tesco LEDs have this option and so do other supermarkets. Most domestic floodlights are now all LED but there is the option of the warmer white setting with a lower LUMEN rating.👆
There are also special computer screen filters for eliminating blue/uv radiation!👆
buying a blue light uv filter for your screen is an easy fix--i bought one for 50 dollars on amazon-no more headaches.
uuugh now office and hospital its hard....unless you wear a hat at work which will look odd....I dont know what to tell you, i worked in a hospital two years and that was the nail in the coffin for my lupus-granted this was during fluorescent times
I wear blue light glasses when looking at the computer screen, they really help. I wear a brimmed hat when I'm in doctor's offices with all the florescent lights. Might not be appropriate for the hospital but perhaps there are glasses that would help.
