Diagnosis

Hi,I was diagnosed with cutaneous lupus 7years ago but have been feeling increasing unwell lately😔I have dry eyes,dry mouth and can get awful indigestion which feels like I'm being stabbed in the chest I also have a lot of pain in my right shoulder and neck. I had x-rays last year and was told I have osteoarthritis in both ankles both knees both wrists and my right shoulder. I am currently "recovering" from a chest infection, I am on the fifth week and still coughing even after antibiotics. I have had bouts of extreme fatigue that has caused me to take a lot of time off work. My question is could I have SLE. On a recent visit to the rheumatologist I questioned this and was asked quite rudely I might add.....

Is your hair falling out?

Are your fingers blue/white?

Are there sores in your mouth?

Because I answered no to all he then said well you haven't got it!!

I am phoning the doctors today to ask for blood tests......what do you all think?

Think that is not a kind response on the part of a doctor. There are people here with cutaneous lupus who have struggled a lot. Some progressed to systemic lupus and some have Sjogren’s. I bet they will help In understanding the array of symptoms.

One thing that needs to be addressed is why your fatigue is worse whether it is SLE or not.

Hello Mayacat2 , I haven't got those symptoms either but I do have SLE! He doesn't sound very helpful or for that matter very informed, there are many symptoms, not just those three, he doesn't sound like he knows much about SLE. I would ask for blood tests. Good luck xx

Hi, thanks for your reply, I had a call from my doctor earlier today and am booked in for urine and blood tests on Monday and I have to book a chest x-ray too so 🤞 for some answers. Xx
