Confused on the criteria 2019

Hi. I have had UCTD for years (my bloods always fine despite symptoms) but my daughter in twenties has been having similar symptoms. She's Ana negative but showing positive in anti-dsdna and anti-dna Smith antibodies. Without the Ana does this mean they won't see it as lupus?

Thanks.

I think but don't quote me it's the anti dsdna which is the more important and more significant one??

The fact that the doctor ran the tests means they saw symptoms of possible autoimmune disease. I think it is very rare to have a negative ANA with positive specific lupus antibodies. I remember seeing this question posed to a rheumatologist by a GP once. He said it is theoretically not possible and probably a lab error with ANA. Definitely ask the rheumatologist for his explanation.

I would not be concerned. They look for a constellation of symptoms. The labs confirm what they already see clinically. They will take all seriously.

What are her symptoms?

Sorry your daughter is going through this.
