Red circular patches popping up ...any thoughts

I have several of these red circular patches appear on my thighs,abdomen and forearms recently.slightly raised and abit dry/flaky and they don't itch .been under alot of stress recently which made its presence felt in my joints etc.any thoughts on what they might be 🤔. Thanks x

Hi, I get a lot of these which my GP said is discoid eczema. I don’t know they are there until I suddenly notice a Little dry patch. I just use Epimax cream on it. If the outside area becomes raised, it could be pityriasis rosea. I had that once and I was literally covered from my waist down but they itched like mad. Xxx

Hi there. I am sorry to see that you have these round skin patches. I have had several on both legs and feet since October last year. At outset mine looked very like yours and did not cause any bother initially. They then developed from small innocuous red patches into much larger very itchy (they get hot and feel inflamed) scaly patches and in some cases have joined up. The patches are very dry and scaly and feel like sandpaper to the touch. I have noticed that I am now getting more red areas on both arms, so this is 'on the move'. GP stated it was a fungal skin infection but despite 2 lots of prescribed creams and tablets, the wretched things are still there. He made a referral back in February for an emergency dermatology appointment which is not until 17 May (!) so am gritting my teeth and hanging on. Am just hoping that the appointment won't be deferred due to the strikes etc. Will keep you posted on a final diagnosis and hope that your rash is something kinder. Good luck.

Hi there to CecilyParsley - and all others I have been moaning to about my skin rashes,

After having these dreadfully itchy horrible red patches since October last year, I finally had a diagnosis yesterday that these are not caused by a fungal skin infection but are in fact discoid eczema. In the end I did dip into savings and went privately as I could no longer stand the itching and it has rapidly spread from both feet and legs to both arms and chest. Dermatologist prescribed a strong steroid cream for 2 weeks - Betamethasone Valerate 100g ointment applied at night. This will be followed up after 2 weeks with daily application of Elocon (Mometasone Furoate) 0.1% cream for a further 2 weeks. Early days and keeping fingers crossed. I have also been using a metal blanket cage to keep the duvet off legs and feet (like you see in hospitals and can be bought on Amazon) - a bit of a palaver but it does help and desperate times call for desperate measures. Would recommend one of these if anyone wants to keep the duvet/bed covers off legs and feet etc at night . Dermatologist did ask which covid jabs I had last year. Not wishing to be alarmist or cause worry to anyone, it's possible that the Pfizer one can trigger skin problems if one is inclined to have sensitive skin issues although data, as yet, does not seem to indicate this is a vast problem/dramatic side effect, so the jury may be out on that but it was interesting that the subject was raised by the dermatologist. The other key thing is not to use any type of shower/soap products - I have been told to use Derma 500 lotion - pump action bottle and although it is a lotion it can be used as a shower gel. Feels like washing with a hand lotion but it does seem to help. This can be bought over the counter at local pharmacies, so no prescription needed.

Hi Purplebox.i saw my rheumy yesterday.all he said about mine were they were lupus related and that I'm having a stress related flare.he is thinking about increasing my hcq to calm my skin down.hope the lotions help .kind regards xx 🤗

Thank you for the info on the Pfizer vaccine PB 🤗Most meds mention rashes as side effects and being a rash person myself anyway it's hard to know what's what 😹I use Dermol 500lotion on prescription and it is great..not too thick but watch out coz it gets very slippy in the bath /shower so be careful. I hope it helps you as it has me 💜🌈xx

hi lovely . I also get those and the funny thing is I often don’t know I’ve got them as they appear in funny places like back of arm , legs or torso . The start of off very red , then fade and go a little bit dry . Sometimes they leave a white patch or slight discolouration after . No itch , no burn .

Tend to last about 4 weeks and I would say they tie in with stressful episodes .

I have patches also then they turn darker and they are dry.

I have them from head to toe.....
