Hi

So I visited my GP today to get discuss my latest blood results. Previously I mentioned i am being treated for MCTD on hydroxychloroquine. I started itching especially after showering and in general feels like I'm on fire some days.

I spoke to rhumotolgist nurse who advised me to reduce my hydroxychloroquine dose to 200mg after stopping few days and letting antihistamines work.

GP and the Rumy nurse not sure if it is the hydroxychloroquine causing my itching.

My blood shows increases inflammation in my body and also over the last year my red blood cell count has been increasing. GP suggested referral to Hematology.

I did speak to GP about the number of consultants im under- gastroenterology, endometriosis urology, colorectal, rhumotolgist, eye specialist etc...

I asked for a full thyroid panel which didn't go down well. Basically telling me that the TSH and T4 would pick up any problems. Got her to do it but not until January 2023.

When I talked about fatigue and no energy she started talking about my mental health to which I said im talking about physical pain, weakness and fatigue. So now waiting to see a Hematologist. She said my itching symptoms could be linked to higher red blood cell count.

I dont know where to turn or what questions to ask now.... any advice please?

😷🥺

My red cell counts are a bit high, and my haemoglobin. Been high for couple of decades.

Always pushing myself so maybe oxygen saturation goes lower. Not sure why it is..

Hope things go well with antihistamines and HCQ 'rechallenge'🙂

I have MRI next week and bit worried contrast, in combo with HCQ, will kick off second rash. I think multiple factors can come together. I've been fine for 8 months since my rechallenge.

Thank you for your reply. Hopefully your MRI goes OK and you dont have symptoms. Let me know how you get on. X
