Unusual query. I have life insurance that I’ve had for years. It covers SLE within critical illness, but only certain types. Despite being diagnosed in 2012, my SLE symptoms didn’t fall into the category where I could claim. As of last week with a new diagnosis which has seen a drastic change in my symptoms, I believe I now do.
Has anyone had experience of claiming against a life policy for SLE ? If so what happens with a chronic illness where the symptoms have progressed? Are they likely to reject it as I was originally diagnosed 10 years ago?
Thank you

Hi, I took out a critical illness policy in 1991 when I lost my Mother to bowel cancer. I never thought to claim until my insurance premium went up and I could no longer afford it. When I rang to cancel a very helpful call centre worker asked me if I could work. I told him I had been unable to work for years. In my small print it said if I could prove I was unable to work the policy would pay out. My Rheumatologist wrote a report and it was paid out in full off my mortgage. I really hope that you can get a payout too. Good luck xx
