Diagnosis

I have read heard Lupus can be hard to diagnose, I have heard of it before and read information and often wondered if I have this condition.

I am 51 with Asthma, hayfever, eczema, migraines, PCOS, Osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and OSA.

Since I was young and even now I still get a redness across my face which I am wondering whether if it is the lupus butterfly rash. It is not always permanent but can last days at a time rather than temporary minutes or hours? Or is it rosacea?

Photo's included no makeup - clearer if angle laptop rather than look straight on

Heya there,

It's always hard to see rashes on pics. I wouldn't know unfortunately by the pic, neither would many of us truly unless dermatology reviewed in person. Is there more reasons your wondering if it could be lupus, like other symptoms or issues in addition that your struggling with?

I hope youre doing well. Lupus is notoriously difficult to diagnose but there is a classification along with a clinical picture and investigations that often shed light and eventually lead to diagnosis.

Stay safe,

Lottie

Hi LottieLou96,

I have wondered over the years.

I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, sciatica, osteoarthritis, migraines, tension headaches, Asthma, OSA, PCOS (this includes BP/weight/acne/unwanted hair/insulin resistance, Vit D and folic acid deficient), hidrenitis, papular urticaria, eczema.

Had issue with iron levels.

Been in chronic pain following 3 car crashes

Symptoms include not necessarily all at same time but many ongoing since puberty:

breathlessness,

rashes and skin issues

joint and muscle pain,

stiffness,

light sensitivity,

hoarseness in mornings, and sometimes sudden hoarseness,

also what seems like a temporary sore throat ie never lasts long

very occasionally and by that rarely sore tongue

headaches and migraines

hard lumps come up behind ears,

Flushing of face - the camera not showing well in the picture as it looked a lot redder to me in mirror than in photo

In July, this year I will be through and past the menopause a year without periods at that point. As far as I know had mild symptoms and no problems with menopause as all symptoms I have had many many years.

Hope that makes sense
