I have a monthly back masssage to release the tightness in shoulder, back and leg joints as otherwise I have pain and restrictions in movement. I have seen a physio in the past as ultra sound can sometimes deal with pain in the joint areas. Always worth having a good physio on your team.

Similar to Hampton’s reply: before covid I went monthly and found huge relief from the treatment which included deep massage, heat, electrical stimulation (similar to TENS) and some sort of neck movement the really helped overall. This was a sports physio I just happened to find at a local gym charging £45 so a bit of a treat but we’ll worth it.

Pain in one shoulder and told its "probably tendonitis". I've seen physios and been given exercises to do. Never been offered massages or ultra sounds, just exercise sheets. I was in pain just lifting and putting down a kettle with a cup or two of water in it.

Been doing the exercises and must admit its a bit better but the pain never really goes away.

The last physio I saw was GP based and he said he'd had similar problems himself and he knew the exercises worked. My problem is discipline and doing them regularly. A massage for shoulders would be lovely...sigh

Yes, I have seen physio for the shoulder pain. They taught me some exercises but it didn't help. My orthopedic consultant had to refer me to a shoulder specialist and I had a steriod injection and that helped calm things down.

I have had many lots of physio over the years and no end of steroid injections into the joints, which work for a while, but mine do not last for long xx

Hi Limerick5, Pretty much like the other have said - I have had physio and numerous steroid injections (help for a short while) over the years but my shoulders flare up regardless. Trying to keep some gentle exercise and keep them moving seems to be the best option. Good luck.

I have shoulder pain too, as well as neck pain but physio and massages don't help as mine is caused by pericarditis. Google it, very common with SLE. Do you also have chest pain when you lie down?

Hi, I'm glad I've finally seen someone post this, thought I was going out my mind as my rheumy doc looks at me so vacant!!Mine is getting more regular now, I've had this spell since Xmas, my chest pain feels like I'm having an heart attack at times, all across my chest and usually radiates into my shoulders mainly the left, sometimes numbness down to the fingers!

Mine is worse when I lie down and dread bedtime! Sometimes it's that bad I finish up downstairs in the reclining chair partly sat up!

I also suffer with IBS and had chronic stomach ache since Xmas too

I have SLE, I've had all tests on my heart and they say it's fine, so I'm guessing it's lupus that is attacking muscles or organs in my upper body, it gets me down alot, I do get the chest pain even standing up at work, and sometimes just to walk is so painful, hope you get some help soon, I never had these problems until I got diagnosed with SLE in 2014

Hello

Snap over got shoulder pain, rheumatology thought it was lupus related joints etc but sent me for scans thankfully. I’ve got a full thickness tear in my supraspinatus had steroid injections but being referred to orthopaedic surgery. I just thought it was just ongoing pains but the scan showed otherwise! The concern from medics was that I hadn’t had an accident which is how “ such a bad” injury would occur. I don’t know how or when all I know the pain has been awful and just didn’t go away!

So if physio hasn’t worked ask for a scan incase you’re hiding a similar injury! That’s what the radiologist and my GP suggested!
