I have suddenly started wakeing up in the night with itchy skin, mainly in the crook of my elbows and knees. Would this be anything to do with autoimmune or could it be my new house mates laundry capsuals please anyone ? 🤔

Itchy ?
Hi Mozart, it could be auto related with something ‘triggering’ the itchiness. For me it’s when I get too hot, in the summer it’s the weather and winter its the central heading! It could also be if the washing capsules are different to what you used to use? Lots of moisturising cream throughout the day and especially before bedtime helps keep mine at bay.
It could well be the laundry capsules..especially if it's only started happening around that time. I have extremely sensitive skin n we use non bio washing tabs..we have the machine on extra rinse too in order to make sure all the items are free of residue detergent.
Dermol 500 lotion is good at calming the itch n soothing the skin..I get it on prescription but I think you can buy OTC.
At the first sign of itchiness I take Piriton (antihistamine) 🌈😽😽xx
I would definitely thin about changing the laundry detergent. I had a terrible reaction all over to Persil and all sorts in the past as the new washing machine didn't rinse properly and so I was wearing, sleeping in and drying myself with things still covered in detergent. I changed to Boots washing detergent for sensitive skin (or Surcare as it used to be called) and put extra water in the drum through the opening and did extra rinses. And certainly no fabric softeners! It could be you are getting hotter as those areas are where you sweat more. I also wouldn't use any thing with any "parfum", "perform" or "fragrance" in the ingredients... ie detergents in anything ie what you wash with as well as wash things with. I use Eucerin body care (or anything else without strong soap and without perfume). And drink lots of water (2-3 litres a day) to help you stay hydrated in this weather as the heating dries the skin out which makes the skin itch... Hope that all helps Mozart12... I have dreadful skin since birth so I know my stuff (well... MY stuff, of course... ;). Take care out there.. and hope things improve. D
Have you liver checked.
