Had a pet scan yesterday to see how much inflammation is in my body. Has anyone else had this?

Hi Bessy01, I had a PET scan done not long after diagnosis. It’s similar to ct and mri scans but as far as I remember goes over the whole body, rather than concentrating on just one area.

Hi Chris21 what was your results? Where you offered any different treatment because of your results? Did it show anything you weren’t expecting. Sorry for all the questions I won’t get the results till next week.

No, I wasn’t offered any different treatment at the time as I had not long been diagnosed with lupus SLE and sjogrens and had been put on hydroxychloroquine. I had a bout of pancreatitis and no known cause for it, an MRI scan that I had 1st, had shown ‘lumps’ the size of a 50p piece ( that’s what the report stated) in my stomach, that’s when they decided to do a PET scan, the results showed inflammation in the lymph nodes and nothing more nasty, which was a relief. The unexpected result was mild fibrosis on the lung, I wasn’t given anything for it, it’s just now another thing that gets checked on from time to time.

I found it interesting that they could look at everything and show areas of any concerns. Apparently it’s similar to the scanners that you go through at some airports!

A week probably can’t get here quick enough for you but it will be here soon enough and hopefully will put your mind at rest once you have the results. Let us know how you get on. X

Morning I’m 39yo male, I had PET scan almost 3 weeks ago as was diagnosed with SLE lupus and my echocardiogram came back with results which showed my aorta was dialation of 49mm, I still not heard back from cardio guess now on waiting list, and chest pains have become daily thing now and have high blood pressure and heart rate at rest is average of 90,

I had appointment about my lupus and he said also have sticky blood ( APS) but doesn’t want to put me on meds due to heart problems but said is very likely I will need surgery but is the waiting to see cardio,

Several times now it all has got too much for me to handle and have broke down and don’t feel can talk to family as they all worrying about all of this but will let you know if I hear anything
