super health squad to manage my illnesses? is it worth it?

hi everyone -

I suffer from APS and I'm currently being tested for lupus. These past few months have been tough so I decided to interrupt my studies for a bit to focus on my health. I was wondering if anyone has tried to "assemble" a health team for themselves to work on their physical, emotional, and mental health (so a PT, therapist, nutritionist, etc) who can help you manage your condition and symptoms? Or perhaps has tried more holistic, non-mainstream methods alongside the specialist's recommendations?

Many thanks

Hi as l posted in another thread l have done this to some extent. I have however largely used a do-it-yourself approach using the internet and YouTube, although I did see a physiotherapist once. For each thing l have tried it for about 6-8 weeks before making a judgement on it. So far I have tried dairy free and gluten free diet, meditation, HIIT, one hour if fresh air a day, distraction thinking. I also had an appointment with a pharmacist to check l was optimising my taking of medicine. I am also trying different supplements and daytime routines. I found this interesting bbc.co.uk/programmes/p09by3... this has given me is a sense of control over the situation. Not all things have worked, the meditation gave me more migraines. Wishing you all the best

Hi, yes absolutely and most things help. With a condition like Lupus, we need all the supports possible. Prescription drugs will not help alone. No way!I do acupressure (self administered at home daily), mild daily exercise (three times of ten squats and etc), a daily walk, numerous breathing exercise (!!!) daily which is a bit like meditation, aromatherapy oil massages (self done), magnetics on painful joints (I use the meridian points as in acupuncture).

As for the professional people, I have tried an acupuncture treatment for over several years but now occasionally for three to four consecutive appointments, regular consultation with a naturopath, daily supplements. I used to have reflexology and deep tissue massage regularly but I find them effective only for a day. Bowen therapy can be very effective provided that you find an excellent practitioner. I have also tried all sorts of other things that didn't work such as earthing sheet, iridology and red light therapy. herbal medicine, homeopathy, Chinese medicine, both hypnotherapy and healing therapy with healers were like throwing money away! Some were quite costly. But hey ho.

For the last eight months, I have been a vegan and gluten free. Every little bit of support system that works will help you. A bit like an ancient tree that has loads of supports to stand. Doctors alone cannot help you. So you are on the right track.

Hope that helps. Good luck!
