Does anyone else get rashes from certain materials? Is there a work around? My work uniform brings me up in the worst rash ever hindering my sleep 🤦🏾‍♀️

Rash from clothing
Do you launder your work uniform yourself? In hospital once I got rashes from where I was in particularly close contact with the sheets! Can you wear a t-shirt UNDER the uniform?
Hi yes I do wash it myself. I think the material itself is an irritant. The uniform is tight fitting so a top underneath wouldn’t work. I’m just wondering if work have to make adaptions if its related to my Lupus
Marks and spencer (others are available 🤨) do a knee length skin tight stretchy slip vest style in light and dark which is drip dry and has the added advantage of holding the tummy in - hurrah! I wear them under summer dresses to keep warm as cold results in me turning rigid with pain for days and in winter under itchy wool dresses that I wear for warmth. I swear by them.
Thanks chick… ill have a look. Its not even a best I need. Its strange it only seems to be the top of my arms that gets the rash
Is it plastic or pure cotton?
I’m not 100% sure. I know its not full cotton tho. Im usually alright with cotton
Hi Simply_Kea, I had the same problem with my work uniform. Terrible itching and rash. I can only wear cotton and the uniform was made from polyester. I got a letter from my dermatologist and that was enough for me to get a uniform made in cotton. Hope you get sorted.
Yes, I have skin issues anyway. I can not wear jeans, it will rub my skin off. I have to wear soft flexible clothing. I usually wear nothing but leggings or yoga type shorts at home. It has to be soft material.
Hello do you use fabric softener? I asked because I was having problems with my clothes as well and the fabric softener really helps me. I also turn my clothes inside out when I am at home so the seams don't bother me.
I do & normally I’m fine after first wash. It’s just something with these tops I’m not sure of x
Yes, Laura uses fabric softener. Here at home (inside & outside), I wear seamless leggings or seamless shorts, soft t-shirts. For Church & town, doctors, etc. have linen pants & shorts . Which comes off as soon as I get back home. There is a good side to this, in the winter I wear leggings under pants when going out, helps keep you warm.
Make sure your detergents, fabric softeners, dryer sheets are non-scented, free and clear. I can’t use any scented lotions, soaps or detergents or I will be covered from head to toe in little red bumps everywhere esp where clothing is form fitting/collect sweat. I think this is common in lupus. Maybe you already do this. Try and think if you’ve changed anything recently - lotions or soaps - that could be a new irritant.
Rarely have I reacted to clothing material. I always wore nylons under my pants to keep my legs from swelling and pants from rubbing. But that’s all I got from a clothing perspective.
Sending hugs. ❤️xx
Thank you Jmiller623 it’s a shame because I have Lupus Nephritis I only have a renal consultant so I’m not clued yo to protective clothing or other triggers etc unfortunately until its too late x
