My mum was diagnosed with Lupus about 18 years ago and has suffered with the butterfly type rash on her face ever since. When she was first diagnosed she was prescribed with an extra strong sunscreen for her face, steroid creams and i believe - anti malaria tablets. Because she hates going to the dr's or making any kind of fuss over it she's never really stuck with any treatment since, and even though i've told her they could probably help, she refuses to make an appointment. Despite this i know her rash gets her really down, it looks awfully sore at times, and i wish i could find something that could help her. I've bought skincare products for her in the past but she's always found they've irritated her skin and made her rash worse. Because of this she rarely uses any kind of skincare, other than to wash her face with Dove soap, and her skin overall is really suffering because of this. I was wondering if anyone on here could advise me on which skin care products have helped them with their lupus rash or at the very least not flared it up? Do you avoid certain ingredients in products? Are there products out there specifically aimed at people with Lupus?
Also, she's used the same foundation since i can remember (Leichner), however this was recently discontinued and she's a bit lost on how to find a replacement cover up. Can anyone recommend a foundation that is good at concealing a lupus rash whilst not flaring it up? Thank you.

Medication for Lupus could help but she would need a referral to Rheumatologists and you said she’s not keen on this route. Maybe with your support she may consider this again?
Or speaking with a pharmacist who maybe able provide some over counter suggestions skincare or creams?
Make up wise the link below maybe of interest or a starting point of various make up available.
H Melissa I have found the Eureka moment fir my skin but it is not cheap. When my skin rashes are flaring I use Elemis SOS Emergency ream It has no additives and calms and soothes. As it is so expensive and my dry skin needs moisture I have tried so many alternatives. The best I have found is an a M& S range called Formula. It is £6 for 50 ml, has no additives and is not tested on animals. I use the extra rich and it does not sting or irritate.Your Mum is so lucky to have such a caring daughter. I really hope she gets some relief from one of the suggestions here. As for foundation, I use Bellaspierre powder... get it on Brandalley for 1/3 of the price and it last for schbavlong time xx
