Hydroxychloroquine sleep loss

Been on Hydrxy for 7 months now. Last 2 I seem to have developed insomnia and notice that im shedding more hair than normal. Are the two linked ??

Hydroxchloroquine can cause insomnia.i seem to go through phases where I can sleep for england (12+hrs) or hardly sleep.havent had any hair loss so cant help there .best wishes

I've been on hydroxychloroquine for about 13 years.

The drug itself didn't cause either issue for me, but....

Lupus causes me to have terrible bouts of insomnia, where I see daylight arrive for days at a time. Lupus flares caused me hair loss . Speak to your GP or rheumatologist.

Thanks everyone. I was happy with Zentiva as my skin cleared up so quickly but I'm exhausted with lack of sleep. I'm getting worried about the amount of hair coming out on my brush too...I will phone the doc to discuss what options I have.

Maybe ask for a full Thyroid panel test and vitamin levels too x

Can I ask, what would they look at the thyroid level for ??

So, a thyroid test is just to see if it's over active or underactive? My mum has underactive and sleeps a lot. I have had tests but doc says my tests are in the normal range.

I hope hydroxy doesnt affect your thyroid 😳
