Hey friends.. I hv been spending last 2 years of my life in regaining my strength after the execive protein loss (diagnosed with SLE nephritis-feb'19) and then undergoing gallstones and overian cyst(jan'20). Presently, I am doing my daily household chores, workout (30 min daily) and taking full time care of my 6 years boy. I start at 6 am. But, by 12:30 pm, I feel soo drenched that I don't feel like even moving an inch. After the lunch and taking a nap for an hour or so brings back some strength to continue till 10:30 pm at night. Just wanted to know from my fellow friends that am I fine? I mean I am still to start working full time again (I am an assistant professor).so,do u think I am fit enough to take all the responsibilities on my plate or better to say to get back to my previous life? What can I do to improve my stamina and my confidence. Plz suggest and share your experiences...
Thank you

Firstly I'd like to say well done for regaining your strength after all of your health issues..I admire your resilience..getting up at 6am is no mean feat..n then carrying on until 10pm!!
However u have said that u have to have a nap around midday n that u feel exhausted.
With lupus we have to learn to pace ourselves in order to get through every day..n if we overdo it one day we then have to recover usually to regain our strength!!
U have your 6 year old son n that is energetic in itself n u are working out n doing your chores..my thinking is that u might have to make some adjustments if u want to return to work..maybe some part time hours?
The main thing is u do not want to become ill again so really it's whatever suits u..I'm sure u know your limits..I have had to learn to say no alot since I was diagnosed!!
U will with treatment n help regain A life but it won't necessarily be the same as YOUR life before this illness.🌈😽😽xx
Hi - it sounds to me as though you are doing an amazing amount already. There is no shame in having a mid-day nap! Looking after a home and children is hard work even for healthy people (although this is not always acknowledged by society at large).
I was an academic in a previous life. I was made redundant during a bad bout of nephritis 8 years ago. Before the nephritis I was largely in denial about lupus and its effect on me and tried to carry on as a so-called 'normal' person. I hated to admit I could not cope with everything in my life. Since then I have made some very big lifestyle changes. I work from home, part-time - and prioritise health and exercise over work. I realise I am quite privileged to be able to do this - and many people simply cannot afford to. I also miss my old job - I miss interacting with students, especially - and I understand the importance of work for your self esteem and confidence.
Can you start back at your job part-time to begin with? See how you cope? Then increase your hours incrementally? Lupus should not be a bar to a good working life - but perhaps go slowly to begin with?
