I take hydroxychloroquine and methotrexate for lupus and inflammatory arthritis. My rheumatologist wants me to start sulphasalazine in addition, as the current combination isn't working. Has anyone had any severe side effects with this drug? I've read it causes Stevens Johnson's syndrome, which a friend of mine has, which scares me somewhat. Also, has anyone had success with this triple therapy? I wonder if I'd be better off on a biologic drug and just take one, instead of three drugs. Many thanks!

No I don’t take it but friends on it, not due to lupus but crohns. Not a nice drug as lots of side effects but sometimes we have to take them. Hope you feel better soon.
