I now have a small flock of Herdies, 2 traditional like the Herdwick grazing in the photo above, and 2 wanting to be a little more flamboyant. Although they are Lakeland sheep mine were created in Scotland so the big Tup (Ram) is named Hamish.
Any ideas what I should name the ewes one being traditional another thinks she has the Golden Fleece and the last is a bit of a rebel. All suggestions gratefully received.
I might knit a 5th but not sure what colour. Any suggestions? π€

Thanks DJK. ππ»ππ» Iβll see if I have a light cream in stock. Great idea. Do you think a black face and legs would be better so it becomes a black-faced sheep rather than a Herdie? Or keep it all cream? π Thanks again π€x
Oooo well you are the specialist on this one...I like the idea of having black legs and face... but if it's not a herdie would they be ostracised by the rest? Don't want to confuse them eh? I have to leave it to you but I think whatever you do, it will be wonderful. x
Aww, thank you so much DJK.π₯° No I donβt want to cause division in the flock. π Mmm. Tricky. π€ Iβll have to think about that and surprise you. π Thanks again for your kind compliment. π€πx
ππ Yes, of course Corona is perfect. The rebel should maybe called that, or should I keep it for the deadly shade of pink? π€£π€£ Thanks farmer. xππ»
Doing myself a mischief more than anything by fighting with ivy and hawthorn - and they always win!! ππ A rainbow flock is a nice idea. Yes, I think Emanewel would be good as a cardinal red or burgundy. Iβll see what wool I have in stock. Thanks for your great suggestions Stiff. ππ»ππ» Stay safe. π€π
Aaaaaa, sweet Spotty!! Ba Ba Black sheep, have you any wool? Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full!! So cuddly cute, they all are.. Between you and Stiff, there is a home grown farm starting here. Wonderful!! . How about a green one? A name, how about "Celtic"? You have a blessed talent, and for such a good cause. Be well my friend, peace, love, thestormy sunshine
Hi Stormy, yes a green one named Celtic would be good, as long as I donβt have to knit a football for him. ππ Thanks for the compliment. π₯°Iβm not the best knitter by any means but they are fun to make and the inconsistencies and errors just add to their individuality. π Thatβs my excuse and Iβm sicking to it. π€£π€£ Take care dear Stormy π€ππ
Ha ha, dear Spotty, Celtic warriors? There are no inconsistencies in your herd flock, they are all uniquely You! With so many wonderful responses here, you can make a herd, and need a rod and staff..Someone needs to make that sheepdog Tykle mentioned, and the Herdies will be complete.. Keep on knitting, I'll send some Storm wool... Love blessings, thestormy sunshine:)πππππ
Spotty,You are to sweet, I hope you Emojis work, soon, as I know they show all our love, and care... Storm away!!!ππππ€π€π€πΊπΊπΊπππππππ
Hubby found the batteries in my iPad keyboard were down so heβs given me his keyboard until he can get new batteries. ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
So these are for you Stormy π€π€ππππ»ππ»ππππ
Take care π Spotty ππ₯ππ¦ππΌπΊπΈπ
Sounds like there might be a few rebels in this thread creating this rebel flock in their own image. You know what they say...It takes one to know one! Except for ewe Spotty! All you wanted were a few suggestions πππππ
ππ I think you are right DR. Is somebody acting the goat among the sheep? ππ€£ Thanks for the giggle. Take care, and βkeep on runningβ, as the song says. π€π
Iβm running ππ½ββοΈ in my mind these days. Hoping to one day be able to get back to it. Have done the impossible before. I certainly plan on doing it again. You know how the saying goes, itβs easier to ask forgiveness than permission...or something like thatπβ€οΈ
Aww, I hope it isnβt too long until you are able to run again even if only a very short distance. ππ» Tiny steps as they say. I admire your spirit and determination not to give up. ππ»ππ» Good for you! Take care D π€
