A good quality mattress can have a big effect on how you feel. Nowadays I'd go strictly for the memory foam kind... they did wonders for my back and fibro. Lots of support yet very comfortable.

You can even buy them online (for a lot cheaper than in stores without the price markup) and they get delivered to your home compressed, then you take them out of the box and unroll and they de-compress back to full size.

Here's one:

If you like a really floofy pillow top type mattress top, you can buy one of those and put it on top of the memory foam mattress, but I found I didn't need one, the memory foam was just fine as is.

I brought a soft memory foam from silent night. One of the best things I ever did. Really helps soothe my joints at times. I have less wake up in pain days

I just brought the mattress from dreams and although it was rather expensive £1000 memory foam it’s amazing and I got it on 0% interest free credit so you don’t feel the cost but it’s a lifetime thing. It’s worth going to dreams and trying the mattresses out.

The biggest tip I can give you is a pillow that has changed the way and the quality of my sleep and that is the bbhugme Pregnancy Pillow from Scandiborn. It is the best £133 I have ever spent. It was developed by Chiropractors ostensibly for pregnancy but it is made up of thousands of little balls that just cradles and supports you. You can alter the tension with the toggles to make it firmer or softer depending on your pain levels.

Hi, I have been sleeping on a pillow top mattress for 4 years now, its superb. It's a very deep mattress, so fitted sheets to totally cover it are a bit hit and miss, I use Next extra extra deep. Got my bed in Bensons as a divan xx

If you are on the heavy side, memory foam are no good as you sink into them, then cant move! My joints got really bad with one of these x
