Hi all,

I had my assessment for the OT a few weeks back. Last week they delivered me a perching stool and trolley. (Must say the new aids make me feel like an 80 year old . Won’t tell you what my brother thought 😂)

I’m having difficulties with my knife and fork recently. The OT said they can’t provide small aids like that now due to cuts in the budgets. So just wondered if anyone has brought any thicker cutlery if so can advice a place to get some that won’t break the bank.

Hope everyone is staying well and safe and this time.

My work told me I didn’t have to go in because of my lupus. So I took them up on the offer. I’ve been off work 2 weeks. Which feels like 2 months. As I work in a special needs school as a LSA there really isn’t any work to be done from home. Unless they send a child to self isolate with me 😂 So I’m getting a bit bored now. Only so much telly to watch.

Hi Lou,

I googled disability fork & knife & long list came up. As I am not sure what you need, best to see if any in the photo's help...

Here one site for example:

nrshealthcare.co.uk/eating-...

Hopefully, your new equipment helps...and you are not sent a student during this isolation 😵....

I use toddler’s cutlery with froggies for handles! Then scissors for cutting if needs be, but I eat a very soft diet on the whole, so froggie fork and spoon with a Mr Men plate and bowl means I dine in splendour x

Ha, ha. Benjamin Button would love that!

I have Beatrix Potter cutlery from when my first born was a babe (he’s now 36). My brother and his wife lived in England with our (US) Air Force for several years. He and his wife bought them. I used these for my grandkids as well, but now use the knife as a butter knife. It makes a perfect one (as it’s dull as I am 🤣).

I bet we’d all love your froggy set!

Hi, firstly, yes it’s very boring but its best to stay than sorry, (as for the TV, it’s all repeats). Secondly, I can’t grip with one hand so the OT sent these horrible set of cutlery, the handles are thick grey foam, they make you feel worse. I found a nice set and although the handles are bigger, but they do the job. The handles are made of clear plastic with looks like crystals in it, and you can a firm grip on them.

I’ve been in since August, and when I was aloud to go out, this virus started.

Just think of the goods times to look forward too. We will should feel lucky that we made it.

So keep safe, try a new hobby.

All the best, and I’m thinking of all in these sad times.

Teanna 😷😇✨

Go well Lou. I’m not sure if you want that student to arrive or not! Best wishes Kevin

To be honest . I’m really missing all the kids at work right now.

I’m also a 1-1 carer for a little boy at school. I’m missing him lots. I love playing and working with them. All the pupils are not attending anyway due to some of there health issues and it being best for them. So hopefully all will resolve in the world and I can get back to work ( trust me I won’t be saying that after a week back 😂)

Lloyds Pharmacy Lou do a better life catalogue that has aids. Might be worth a look and a bit more reasonably priced.
