Shielding Letter

Hi everyone!

Just a quick question, does the ‘shielding letter’ from the GP re Covid, state that you have to stay at home for 12 weeks?

I have received a letter from my GP stating that I am ‘moderate’ risk only to go out for essential shopping and medication and a couple of pages on how to stay safe. Just asking if the ‘shielding’ for 12 weeks is any different as my employer will need a copy of this, and my GP advises that I shouldnt be returning to work, but Im not sure if ‘moderate risk’ will suffice. My GP really thought I would be in the high risk group but because I was taken off an immunosupressant a few months ago this affecting the risk grading. I have sle, with lung issues, among alot of overlapping disease.

Hi Shann, Like you I have SLE and other chronic conditions including an atrophying kidney. However I’ve received no letter at all. So I can’t help you. I’m retired so have been able to self isolate for 3 weeks already with hubby doing all the weekly shopping. I’m surprised you are classed only as ‘moderate risk’. I’ll keep watching your post to see if anybody else throws any light on the matter.

Hi. The sheilding letter does state that you are to stay at home for 12 weeks. Do not go out in the community at all. They advise for someone to collect shopping, prescription for you and leave on door step. Open a window for fresh air or if you have a garden then to go out in the garden. And obviously as all other recommendations washa your hands, keep home clean. Etc.

Thank you, I just needed to know it it states the 12 wks, as I think my employer will want this stated, the letter I have dosent say that, thanks for reply 🙂

Update!!! Got my ‘shielding’ letter!! GP contacted my Rheumatologist today who said I was definately to get a shielding letter for 12 weeks, happy this will keep work happy too 😁
