blood tests.Whats next?
Welcome aboard jan85uk! There are folks on the forum that could answer that in depth, and there's a full description of various blood bottle colours on sites like this:
geekymedics.com/blood-bottl...
but my lab uses brown for immunology, which is tests for lupus and its specific antibodies...no idea if that is a local thing...at the GP practice, they're not familiar with the immunological panel so I have to say where it should be sent
You'll see for yourself the kind of things purple/gold might indicate
Be well, stay safe xxx
Purple is EDTA tube used for blood counts. Gold can mean a lot of things but helps separate blood to do serum testing for immunology tests like autoimmune antibodies. Gold can also be used for metabolic panels/kidney function, b12, folate and iron tests....maybe thyroid but I can’t recall.
If your ANA is high then another panel should be sent off looking for more specific antibodies. From what I’ve read on the forum, usually people are referred to rheumatology and they run the additional tests.
Obviously all speculation without clinical context and until you find out what came back abnormal. If you could post your lab results when you get them, it might be more helpful.
Hope this helps! ❤️
