Hi Cherry14 ,

Have you been started on a new treatment regimen following these results?

If you'd like to learn more about lupus nephritis, please take a look at our booklet at lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u.... If you need a physical copy posted to you, please just send me a private message or email paul@lupusuk.org.uk with your name and address.

There are some things that need to be considered about your diet when you have kidney disease. You can find some resources on the National Kidney Federation website at kidney.org.uk/diet-and-food

Hello Cherry,

Its quite common after diagnosis to get a renal rating - but this refects you're kidneys probably at their worst while you're antibodies are still running amuck with a flare.

You're in for some treatment that's designed to bring the lupus antibody count down and and allow the kidneys to heal - which often they're pretty good at with time.

How you alter you're diet would definately be a good question for you're Nephrologist.

I had high protien leak ( protenuria ) (and a bit of bleeding) and thought from my googling a low red meat diet would be easier on my renal cells - but I was wrong - I needed all the protien I could get into me because I was loosing it and I needed it to stay healthy and heal.

We're all a bit different. Diet is definately something you need to ask you're Doctors about - along with how best to keep pressure off the renal cells - e.g.. BP meds/ levels of excersise etc.

X

Join the health unlocked kidney groups. They have very helpful, knowledgeable people on it and in the 1 1/2 years since my diagnosis, I have found more help there than from the medical field.

Hi Hidden and Hidden ,

There is mention of the different classes of lupus nephritis in the booklet on page 5 under "What else do I need to know about lupus

and the kidneys?". This paragraph indicates the implications the various classes have on treatment.

This booklet is actually undergoing a scheduled review/update at the moment - we're waiting for some updated information from the authors. If we were to include some more information about the different classes of lupus nephritis, what else would be helpful? We do have to strike a balance between providing enough information and too much as the booklet must remain accessible to as many people as possible.
