Hot flush in thigh and buttock

Hi there,

I have Lupus (sle) and APS. The past week I have been having a hot wet sensation in my thigh and buttock. It only lasts a few seconds but happens every 5 minutes or so. Has anyone else experienced anything similar??

I have SLE with lupus anticoagulant without APS. I don’t know if I’d describe my experience in the same way but my flanks and buttocks do turn quite cold with livedo (looks like dark purple brown stretch marks but come and go). It’s usually after I exercise/high activity and feels like icy hot on the thighs. I think it’s part of having thick blood. If it’s really bad I get it on my inner thighs too. I just think it happens in fat rich areas with not as rich blood supply. I also get what I call the tingles.....like water trickling all down my body. Usually at night, when I’m tired or right before my menstrual cycle. Hope this helps or you can relate in any/some small way.

I do get exactly what you are describing, if I go out in the cold my thighs and buttocks go ice cold to touch and not even having a shower helps to warm them back up. I too have livido rash which is there 95% of the time. I take anticoagulant but this doesn’t seem to help either even though it has reduced the amount of chilblains I get. I only rarely get the water sensation but have no idea what causes that. I suffer from raynauds too so I think all these things cumulate together.

Yeah. I’ve never had a documented clot so never diagnosed with APS but I have many APS findings similar to you. Livedo, horrid Raynauds. I only take aspirin. I feel like Plaquenil helped both because it acts as a mild anti-platelet agent and anti-inflammatory. It certainly quelled my livedo which helped with frozen thighs and hand pain, ulcers.

Have you tried the Sticky Blood forum? I’m sure many of them have had a similar experience with the hot, wet, cold feeling. They are a pretty helpful chatty bunch.
