Seasons greetings fellow lupies I haven't been on here much as not been feeling too great. A bit of advice please for SLE. I have been having a lot of flare ups. Is there a good skin product regime that anyone can recommend as everything seems to irritate my skin. Also any recommendations on lupus cookbooks? Thank you everyone x

Ann(e) Reisdorf has a Lupus cookbook. I have it. Not every single recipe is a winner, but there are a lot of great ones. She also dedicated the first part of the book to cooking hacks that will save you time and energy in preparations. Gives you a list of items to keep on hand and tools you should have. I really liked it. So much so that I Googled her info, found her email, and sent her a thank you email. She was kind enough to reply back within a few hours. Very sweet young woman. I’m glad I found her book.

Oops. I was close 😉

PS, idk what type of skin issues you are having, but what I find helps me, especially after I rash out because I then get extremely flakey skin, is a rotary skin brush. I use the Clarisonic Mia 2. I also use Image Skincare, the Max as a cleanser. It’s a plant stem cell product out of Florida. And I also use Paula’s Choice Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser (I was introduced to Paula’s Choice products a few years ago doing an infomercial for the company.) I use both, and they have kept the rashed down, and are a great help once the rash passes and the skin starts flaking. I’ve honestly seen a huge difference.

Hi, I can't advise on the cookbooks as I'm a trial and error cook! Skin wise, I suffer from facial rash (small) and very dry, bumpy, often itchy skin. For the latter I find nothing beats coconut oil or Khiels body oil. For face I use Simple products as my skin is so sensitive, but have found L'oreal age defying hydrating day cream for 40yrs + fantastic (sorry if not appropriate- not sure of your age!) X

Avoiding products containing formaldehyde can help. Especially when washing bedding and clothes in touch with your skin. My daughter finds natural Tropic makeup very good. Other brands are available! Best wishes Kevin

Merry Xmas ! Sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well. For the skin, I have been using a cream called ‘Ancient Egyptian Cream’. You can get it on amazon, it really calm the skin and it works wonders on the rash😊 have a happy new year!

I had bad skin reactions a few years ago. Patch tests at the hospital in Dundee showed it was because of the perfume in most products. I now use Dermol on my face and have had no problems, can sit in sun, but not too long. Sun products don’t help incidentally.

Dear Sixy6, sorry to read that you are having a lot of flare ups. I have severe systemic lupus and very sensitive skin. I use the La Roche Posay and Aveeno ranges both available at Boots. Regarding nutrition, my book, published earlier this year, has a comprehensive section on the optimum nutrition for lupus, including an index where you can look up individual foods. Full details are on my profile and it is available in all formats including Ebook on Amazon so you could get it today with a kindle app. Wishing you the best of luck and a happier and healthier 2020, very best regards, Lily

Hi, my rheumy consultant prescribed me Cetreban lotion, it came in a huge container with a push down lever. It is excellent, certainly helps my skin

I don't know if you've ever tried them but I use Salveo Indian Soap Nuts in the washing machine instead of regular detergent. Their fantastic for getting the washing clean and also for skin problems as they have no chemicals or scents. I also use Aveeno skin products in the shower and as moisturiser.
