If you have a large unexplained weight loss over a short time, please see your doctor. It could be a sign of hyperactive thyroid or diabetes or other medical disorder if you are eating a normal amount but losing weight quickly.

To keep your gut healthy you can also buy probiotics and eat active yoghurts for that. Cut way back on sugar and fructose which negative bad bacteria adore. read up on FODMAP foods if you have gut problems. Get tested to see if you are lactose or wheat intolerant.

There are weight gain shakes you can buy.. they are often used in the elderly who have trouble maintaining weight. You eat your normal meals but drink extra shakes as well.

Also eat more healthy fats since they are calorie dense. Lots of extra butter on your veg and breads. One tablespoon of butter has 100 calories, so heap that on bread and things like baked potatoes and broccoli, corn, rice etc.

olive oil and salad dressings are high calorie too. Have a nice small salad but with a quarter cup of fatty dressing like blue cheese. You can get 400 calories from a quarter cup of dressing.

Stay away from low fat or products labelled as'light' products.. go for the full fat kinds.

Nuts are good for you and high calorie too, so find a kind you like and supplement with several handfuls of nut snacks every day.
