Beauty salon visit? : Hi friends, wanted to know... - LUPUS UK
Beauty salon visit?
I go every four to five weeks for hair, every two for manicures. The dye my stylist uses never seems to bother me. The beginning of last summer, my stylist was on maternity leave and the salon owner filled in. Having heard of what I’m going through, the owner decided to switch me to an organic dye. The organic dye burnt my skin around the hairline. My forehead rashed out. Who knew. So, you can go, but I guess that trial and error will be your guide? 🤷🏻♀️ Best of luck🙏
PS, facials i have had have been awesome. I had an Oxygen facial and my skin looked great (for awhile. But wasn’t affected negatively).
Dear Putloo, I have found that grooming is really important for my self esteem, despite lupus - hair and manicures. My salons know that I have lupus and will do things like be very careful of my neck when washing my hair. If you have any highlights or tints here in the UK, your salon should always do a patch test before any fuller work...if they do not, it is not a pukka salon. Modern in-salon hair treatments can also help with hair condition and growth which can be impacted by lupus. One thing though, I did have a problem with shellac gel overlays on my nails rather than a standard manicure. I got an infection in the nail which may be because I am on immunosuppressants. Wishing you a very happy, glamorous Christmas and New Year, very best regards, Lily
