Thank you all for your very helpful replies. I am coping with the rash though itching day and night๐Ÿ˜• (thank goodness it's only around chest height) but suffering with total agonising pain. Sleep is normally disturbed but now I'm awake more than asleep ๐Ÿ˜– until around 7 am when I fall asleep through sheer exhaustion. GP says due to all my health issues I'm very likely to be suffering for some months yet and not to look for much improvement till after Xmas ๐Ÿ˜ข He was very nice to give me pain relief, offered me lignocaine patches which I would have grabbed from him if I wasn't allergic to the dam stuff ๐Ÿ™„ Hope you've all good weekend speak soon, TAKE CARE ALL

Has he tried some prednisolone? And probably nothing better than calamine for the itch!

I take 10mg prednisilone daily since before shingles outbreak. Calamine lotion no good what so ever, I find 10 minutes after applying I feel like I need to reapply it. I think I'll get my husband to get me some calamine cream tomorrow and give that a go. Thanks for your reply.

When my girls had CP I used a homeopathic remedy for the itch - Rhus tox. They never mentioned itch at all - despite my MIL being determined to suggest to the older one she should be itching! And I have heard people say oatmeal baths helped a lot.

It is miserable - do hope you find something to help.

Hi Bronn, I hope that the Shingles are beginning to ease off and let things resume to normality!!!

Having Shingles is "horrible". I can clearly recall how I felt with the outbreak of Shingles, and still paying the price today.

I found the Calamine Lotion usless, made no impact at all. Like yourself, I have been on Prednisolene for many years. The only medication that helped me get some relief from the pain was Tramadol.

Still have a lot of nerve damage from this time, cwhich was in January 2016.

Take Care and be Shingle Free Soon ๐ŸŒบ

Thank you for your reply. The rash just doesn't seem to want to go ๐Ÿ˜– Blisters are healing though so that's 1good thing. I tried going out for some fresh air today, only to the chemist (less than 10 minutes away) I've been in excruciating pain since and having trouble breathing too. I do have 1 lung affected by pulmonary fibrosis as well. Husband was furious when he got back from his hospital appointment, we had take away for tea, as he was shattered too. His mum said she can remember suffering the pain and the difficulty breathing and said she sympathises but can't remember what she took. I am allergic to Tramadol but thanks for your support.

Hi Bronn, Shingles is a very painful condition to deal with and on top of another Health Condition it does take its toll.

I would go back to your GP and ask if you could prescribe a strong pain killer that agrees with you system, no point in suffering needless pain.

All going well once the blisters have all dispersed, the itchy skin rash will start to be less of an issue!

Look after yourself.
