Hi Patsy01 ,

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain in your knees. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? Have they given any recommendations?

We have an article on our website about pain management in lupus which may be of interest to you - lupusuk.org.uk/pain-managem...

My knees are really bad at the moment aswell. I have sjogrens and lupus and have changed my medication 3 times in the last couple of months so now it's taking a while for it to kick in and the joint pain is the worse I have had it before.

Have you tried the steroid injection to help? I'm due mine in 3 weeks, for now I rang the doctors and he has gave me naproxen to see if that helps

I already take prednisolone

Me too, but in my hands and neck, hips etc🙄🙄 - luckily I was due to see my Consultant and she took one look at me as I hobbled in and put me on just 5mg of Prednisolone daily. It has done the trick very quickly and I am much more comfortable even in this heat. Get to a Doc ASAP. In the meantime try Olbas Oil or Deep Freeze on your knees it does help and is drug free so will not clash. I take Co codamol as a pain killer. Good luck

Does deep freeze really help?

Yes or I wouldn’t have mentioned it. I use the plasters and at other times the spray or gel. The plasters last 12 hours and I put them on my legs when I am going out shopping ! We are all different in our responses tho, however, it is always worth trying ANYTHING to allow us to cope with constant pain. Best of luck

Hi Patsy, I’m having very similar knee pains this weekend....also pain in my other joints (wrists/ ankles/ elbows/ feet). The heat seems to be making everything swell up.

I use tubi-grips on my sore joints. Compression, elevation and ice can all help. I think my medication helps too and my GP/ Rheumatologist keep an eye on that and adjust it if I’m not coping.

I hope you are feeling better soon.
