Wish i could tag two groups.. hopeful after a couple calls and weird suggestions regarding platelets from PA

Today I am hopeful. Was disheartened last post but thankful for your support in this group, it can be hard to get anywhere with doctors as we all know, especially if your body isn’t showing more obvious signs of destruction.

Last week I half heatedly put out a request for recommendations of doctors in the CA area as that is where I am. Tons of people responded and I am so grateful. I revisited the post and one stuck out to me the most as this Rheumatologist was spoke of as a researcher and if you’ve seen my post and requests, its for more answers and research based. I took a shot and called requesting for that Rheumatologist and a primary to refer and the receptionist i spoke with said they can refer me without a referral. “Um, what?!”

We will see if the doctor will actually take my case but, on the upside I sent in the application and a couple recent labs and am hopeful. They requested my file be sent so hopefully it will be sent and I will not be sent away as its alot of effort to get communication from my previous Primary doctor’s office. I do feel like everything has been running smoothly so far. So I hope this was God’s hand in direction. And if it wasn’t, I will be pressing on.

Went in to my previous primary’s office thus morning after my endo appt. and the door was unlocked and they all happened to be out there in a meeting, think I met the head up and gave her the request for release of my records. Felt kind of good not cowering behind the phone this time. I hope there will be follow through.

Had an endo appt today with the PA i see and she made claims about the methimazole I used to take, being the cause for my platelets dropping and now they are fine.. i once again got the courage to respectfully point out that when we logged platelets with thyroid levels, they didnt line up. And that I had no cbc labs from when I was taking methimazole. She still thinks what she thinks but she made it clear that my platelet levels are not cause for concern even though its has been two years with one or two other “pop up to normal.” Its out of her area of expertise. Her nurse recommended a different PA for primary care so I have made an appt for tomorrow and the reason for appt is for referral to hematologist and nerve conduction study as was suggested before by a male primary doctor in previous office. I dont know if a hematologist will take me seriously but they should have a better educated guess than some weird ones that the Endo PA has made as I don’t honestly think its normal.
