Significant other has lupus and diabetes

Hello everyone,

I do not suffer from lupus, fortunately, but my significant other does, I guess I am here for advice from others who are also in relationships with people who has lupus. I have always been worried about him especially on days he has flares, some weeks ago he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, he even lost conciousness and had to be rushed to the hospital

and while on the phone with him yesterday he complained of difficulty remembering things. He is just in his thirties.

We are serious about our relationship and i intend to stay with him through all of these but sometimes i fear that it may be too much for me and i fear about our future... Will we be able to have children? will he live long? Will he be disabled soon? I feel bad that I am thinking these things but I am just being realistic.

Right now we are in a long distance relationship as he lives in Norway, i am thankful that the country has great health care. As for me, I do research to understand his condition and how I can help him even when we are far apart.

I hope i did not offend anyone thinking that it would be difficult to be a partner of someone with lupus, i guess this is also part of my research.

I am in the similar situation, my partner is currently hospitalised with his conditions and we're in a long distance relationship.

All I can advise is that if you love each other, you will figure it out as you go along. It's natural to have the worries you have, but remember nothing 8n life comes with a guarantee except death at some point from something.

All that truly matters is the love you have and whatever time you have together, it's all the more precious now. Just trust yourself xx
