Hi can anyone recommend a brilliant Paediatric consultant in the West Midlands. Don’t mind having to travel for the right one! Or what it costs! Just really need some help and answers. Thanks guys!

Hi JoG1975 ,

Birmingham Children's Hospital is supposed to be very good and they are a part of the UK JSLE (childhood-onset lupus) Cohort Study Group, although I don't have the name of the consultant leading this there.

If you are able to travel a little way, Prof Michael Beresford leads the lupus team at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool and this is currently the only UK paediatric LUPUS UK Centre of Excellence.

Hi JoG1975. Following on from Paul's reply, the Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist at Birmingham Children's Hospital is Dr Eslam Al-Abadi. He has been extremely helpful in responding very quickly to a problem I put to him regarding a young lupus patient. I would certainly suggest that if you want to see a Paediatrician in the West Midlands you ask your GP to refer to Dr Al-Abadi. Hope all goes well.
