Iron deficiency

Just had letter from gp re my annual blood checks,It said shows an iron deficiency picture, is this a symptom of lupus?

I read in our magazine that folk with lupus have a difficulty in absorbing iron. I've found that eating lamb's liver gives me a real energy boost.

Hi! Somehow it's related. You should see a haematologist to specifically check what is causing you this as lupus can affect us in so many ways. I've suffered from iron deficiency since I was 6 y/o, it comes and goes, I already had lupus symptoms at that time. When it's been caught in an early stage it's been fixed with steroids and iron tables. Other times when I've been pretty bad I've needed blood transfusions as well.

There's a doctor in London that has been researching about this relation lupus-iron. Here's a link: academic.oup.com/rheumatolo...
