I am rather glad this year is winding down. But I guess one more thing had to happen. I broke my toe yesterday. I am wondering if this can trigger a vas flare.
Everything hurts--especially legs and back. Any one have experience like this?
I do NOT want to stay in bed. It's really not even an option. But it does help me feel better.

Whenever there is an assault of the body the immune system reacts in an inflammatory fashion. When all is well and good in your body this is a positive thing as the inflammatory response is part of our healing mechanism.
But all of us with lupus are a bit damaged so things get out of control when this response kicks in. Sometimes some extra nutritious foods can help or boosting vitamin levels in other ways.
But with Christmas there will be lots of sugary offerings which can make things worse. Try to keep warm and if you need to rest you will have to. If not it will prolong the situation.
All that aside, I hope it doesn't dampen your Christmas too much.
Barnclown had massive cascading effects from a metacarpal fracture, something along the lines of the immune response going for any seats of inflammation, so the healing swelling around your toe will multiply into an all-out attack ? Maybe calling in some Christmas back-up or just announcing plans to take it a bit easier would be an option? Hoping you have a relaxing and merry Christmas! xxx
