Even more tears 😭😭

Dear friends after a long wait, the on-call doctor finally rang. She was most helpful and was prepared to ensure that Meds were dispensed as quickly as possible. She enquired as to my local chemist. I told her. To my greatest horror, the Chemist told her he gave me the medication yesterday 😳. She was upset thinking I was trying to pull a fast one. My lazy ears did not hear fully what she was asking about blister pack. We were stalemate. In the end no meds.

My friend have contacted 111 on my behalf because way too emotional to deal with this. 😭 It’s too much. Waiting for on-call doctor to return call in 2 hours.

Another elderly friend physically went to the Chemist to confirm closing time and expressed his concern. The response he got was diabolical as he turned and walked away saying then all she has to do is go to the hospital then! 😳

The thing is GPS are now being warned of over prescribing high strength painkillers. So you maybe caught up in all of that. But IF the chemist really do believe the painkillers were couriered yesterday and if the courier says they weren't there then that link at least should be explored.

That's not your job, but someone in authority should be asking questions.

What exactly is your source of pain?

Hi overnighthearingloss, thank you for the heads up of overprescribing of drugs.

The particular meds are given because of sharp shooting pains and back spasms as a result of decompressed spinal disease/issues compounded with osteopaenia/osteoarthritis and other connective tissues diseases which are all nerve related.

This isn’t made easier with Lupus/Raynaud’s flares along with the unexplainable swelling of my back. Both upper and lower parts of my spine is whacked and bursitis in right shoulder.

Sometimes, my entire nervous system flares up. Found have had to be hugging myself real closely to stop it. Not seen externally but nevertheless debilitating.

Recently, experienced sharp shooting pains under my left ribs, body temperature dropping very cold. Joints in my fingers especially right hands are becoming stiffer than usual and turning bluish.

My physio said that this was down my sympathetic nerve. Now wearing Raynauds copper gloves to help alleviate some of the nerve issues identified

Initially, was prescribed Fentanyl but consultant felt that change was necessary to current ones. Trust this gives a clearer picture.

By the way, because of the nature of these drugs, don’t take by myself - only my carers handle them (they are very stern (like olden days school marms & kept under lock and key).

One med is given every 3 months

Another - every month (6weeks)

The patches are prescribed when needed.

No abuse here. No room for storing extras just in case kind of thing - every meds’ under the watchful eagle eye of all parties concerned including myself.

Caters are extremely vigilant with excellent management of all my meds ensuring taken at only prescribed times.
