Vitamin D3 Offers

This is not a question but some helpful information.

I normally get my Vitamin D3 from Holland and Barrett when its on offer but have just found a real bargain on Amazon. They are called Vita Premium Vitamin D3 4,000 IU High Strength so only need to take one a day. They cost me £12!!!! Even in the penny sale Holland and Barrett charge £18 for 250 and get another for a penny, so say 500 tablets (2,000IU). I normally take 2,000 IU a day but 4,000 should be fine from what i've read up on. They are softgel capsules as well.

Osteopenia is a stage of low bone density before osteoporosis and I'm susceptible because I have been on steroids for so many years because of the lupus. I take Adcal-D3 which is calcium carbonate with vitamin D3. the vitamin helps with the absorption of the calcium. Each tablet contains 1500mg calcium carbonate(equal to 600mg calcium) and 10mcg of vit D3 and I take one in the morning one at night both with food. I am careful in the sun but it doesn't affect me as much as you. A blood test can also show vitamin D levels which if low can cause problems. Good luck.

Hey there - thanks for your posting. I was recommended by my Rheumy to take 1000 iu's a day but wondered if it was enough. I'm hardly ever in the sun and if I am, as with most of us, I put on Factor 50, sunglasses and often a hat. I found this recent research paper on the D3 and SLE Lupus and, if you like that sort of thing, it's a very interesting read! ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

I'm going to up mine a little to see if it helps. Thanks again, D
