Artritis in hands

One of my issues is arthritis, and it affects different areas on my body, and one of them is in my hands. My fingers on my right hand and daily bent and slightly bent on my left. I have to write several pages of notes for school and it causes extreme pain in my hand. I stop every now and again to massage my hand and fingers, but it doesn't assist very much in the pain. Does anyone know some things that may help me with the pain, besides basic painkillers?

You probably could do with doing some hand exercises, maybe see a physio

my pain specialist/physio told me to put my hands in cold water for 5 mins then hot water for 5 mins and to buy some volerol and rub it in your hands I find it helps as I have arthritis in both thumbs and lots of pain and stiffness in my wrists. also to buy some aids so your not putting so much pressure on your wrists/hands. I hope this helps

Are there any good aids that help you, that you would suggest I could use?

I’ve got a stress ball which I used to uncurl my bent hands. Both hands had completely curled up, I used a dibber (pen like) to type things in on my iPad as I can’t use my fingers, my hand surgeon was amazed at how it helped my hands. They are both still bent but not like they were a few years ago.

I use a few aids to help me open jars etc..

Physio is a really good idea and they will come up with some exercises for you. Good luck

I use a pure cold pressed Omega3 made by Neolife. As long as I take it my fingers improve. Even the bend has seems to not be that bad. Sadly it is a daily taking situation, but so nice to not have the pain. Be very careful though of omega3 that is distilled, not filtered for 200 different toxins or made from the flesh only of the fish.

I use Olbas Oil. There is also Bio freeze and cheaper, less smelly BUT it eases the pain and stiffness for a while. Small amounts of Turmeric taken over time will ease it as well - it’s a natural anti inflammatory. Good luck

I take turmeric each day with my other meds, and it has helped with the swelling of my hands.

I use Boswelia & Commiphora cream which I find really helpful. It is made with essential oils and you can buy it online from the Skin Shop.
