All I can see there is blood vessels on the surface of the eye which are perfectly usual.

Do you have dry eyes? That can cause apparent reddening and more obvious blood vessels - and typically streaming thin tears as your eyes try to replace the normal viscous tears that are lacking.

Not sure about dry eyes but they are particularly stingy in the evening and there is a clear divide between top and bottom of eye almost a line (bottom red and veiny kind of discoloured and top half just bright white)I will put up another pic but doesn’t seem to show what I see clearly in the mirror...

It does sound like dry eyes . Your optician be able to advise, some will even carryout atest to see how dry your eyes are . If you do need drops , try preservative free .

Hi Domi1041 ,

You have a lot to think about.. Are your eyes sore or feel gritty? If so you could have dry eyes? There are many good eye drops. An optician would be able to check for dry eyes? Autoimmune problems and dry eyes can often go together.

Best wishes xx

Take care of yourself xx

I would not leave any problems with your eyes unchecked. Please get them looked at by your GP or optician asao to get their opinion. I can honestly say that doing this myself paid off and it was the best thing I could have done. I thought my optician would think I was over-reacting to a problem, but she was so understanding and her advice was fantastic. It also puts your mind at rest! Keep well xx

Have you spoken to your doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing?

Although you have not had a diagnosis of lupus, around a third of people with lupus have some sort of eye related matter such as ‘dry eyes’. We published a factsheet on ‘LUPUS: The Mouth, Nose and Eyes’ which you may like to read here: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
