Does anyone get worse as cold weather approaches?
Seasonal changes: Does anyone get worse as cold... - LUPUS UK
Seasonal changes
The weather changes have a massive impact in the summer it's factor 50 and a trilby then it's cold aching hands and very stiff joints o oh winters on its way 😤
Yes! My hands feel fat as *^%* and my feet throb
What’s trilby? I’m in the United States
Sorry a hat it's like a fadora
My tiny hands are frozen ( and feet, and nose) year round, but yes, the colder days definitely make me feel worse. Part of my last session at the Pain Management Service covered flares, particularly as the weather changes,
While I can't tolerate the sun, I do like to see it outside, so the darker colder days give me fewer simple pleasures.
I don’t even have the option of pain management. What happens there?
Pain management seems to take different forms. The service I was referred to was much more about having pain and managing with it daily, than doing anything to relieve the pain. My GP's job was to help with the pain, the service was about coping strategies.
It might be worth asking your GP for a referral if there's one available. I went for a year, and found it quite helpful ( one of the chaps had Raynaud's so we swapped experiences) . Much of the help was having the luxury of spending most of an hour face to face concentrating on what I wanted and needed in my life.
Sorry, I'm not explaining it well, but I suppose a comparison would be to a fatigue management service. You have fatigue: here are ways of coping in your personal circumstances, report back on how it goes.
Thanks. I will mention it
Yes I defiantly get worst this time round I have had a heavy col since August and cannot shift it , Its turning to flu my GP unfortunately has not been able to give me my flu jab yet because of how ill I am .
I know. It takes forever to get rid of simple little colds. Good luck and thanks for the response.
Yes, it certainly affects me including my gut. I have difficulty finding what I can eat because I need warm food and it means cooking more as well as trying to cope with everything else - aching joints, sensitive teeth, tiredness, etc.
I like to get out as I am affected by the heating indoors, too, and the lights being electro-sensitive - I've just managed to get a shield put on the LED street light that shines in my bedroom window on my face all night. At least it stops the glare of the bulb right in my face, but darkness would be more advantageous for good sleep and LEDs are not good for the eyes and cells of the body, apparently.
The pollution especially of traffic seems worse with the colder weather.
Good food, keep moving and exercise, ample rest and all that was intended by nature seems to be the best way for me.
I refused the flu jab because I read it is only effective in 2% of the population and vaccinations can also cause an abnormal immune reaction which knowing my body would happen to me!
I love that people call it the “flu jab” in the UK. Thanks for replying.
Yes!!! Especially from a drop in hot weather to rain. My body reacts so quickly. I can also tell when it will rain even though a bright sunny day as my joint will ache
Me, too, with the joint ache and storms. My mother said I am just like my grandmother - she could always tell when it was going to thunder by my grandmother's symptoms of feeling nauseous, etc. I am the same.
Hit's like a bus!! Breathing hurts chest fingers numb toes numb...man had to get woolies out ASAP everyone else is like it's not that cold!!! going to invest in small heater to take to work. Why is it that we suffer in the sun and cold why isn't there a happy medium 😥...anyone???
I bring a heater too!
2 pairs of socks inside my slipper socks indoors and leg warmers inside my trousers!
MisterE, you have a great outlook on life.
I don’t think I am as sick as some of these people. Thank you!
It is managing it and keeping positive or even seeing the funny side of it all - oh, this crazy life!
Life is what it is. The more we can make joys out of simple things is all I think is important. Sure I can't run a marathon now but very unlikely I ever would. I do miss being able to stay awake during work hours or socialising more often but Ive turned my chemists trips into outings and Doctor appointments like Im seeing long lost friends. Ok I may be bonkers too. Everyday we wake is a good day xx
