Flare Symptoms

I have Lupus. I was out in the sun doing yard work for a few hours even though I wore hat and was all covered up. At end of day felt very tired and fatigue. I had no energy or appetite. Is this a flare. I was in bed for 12 hours. I now am awake but don't have energy to get up. What can I take or do to feel better.

A few hours is a lot of activity/exercise for a lupie. It's not necessarily a flare. Now that my meds are under control, I will have this, but it it will be a much faster "down time" than previously.

Hi WEIDE ,

As Shaysuekirk has suggested, it is possible that you may have pushed yourself a bit too much. It is important to pace yourself. You can read more about lupus fatigue and pacing in our blog article here - lupusuk.org.uk/managing-fat...

Were you wearing sunscreen? Most clothing is not completely UV protective and so a few hours in the sun could still trigger a reaction. You can read more about light sensitivity and tips for coping with it at lupusuk.org.uk/coping-with-...
