Woman with lupus
Hello Jensen- Lynne
The ratio of women to men having lupus is 9-1 !. Women have it more than men because it's been linked to hormones!. Hope that's helped. X
In SLE is is overall 9:1 but it does vary between age groups:

Age of onset tends to vary too.
Hi jensen_lynne ,
As others have said, 9 out of ten cases of lupus are in women. It is not a common disease but we do not have accurate figures for the number of people affected. Some studies have shown that approximately 1 in 2,500 women are diagnosed with lupus, although this can be three to four times more common in certain ethnic groups such as those with African, Asian or Caribbean heritage.
