Hi all have not been on site for quite some time, have been very depressed and when i get like that I withdraw.

I have a question, Does anyone here have a severe cramp like pain in their shins when they walk? It is really getting me down I feel like I am standing on two rods.

Down but not completely out.

Hi Firstly may I say that I am pleased that despite feeling so down you have contacted the site for support and hopefully someone will be able to say that they too have suffered from this. I have had lupus and other conditions for years and I know that the effects of it can really pull you down I have had pain in my shins but I am sorry I am unable to tell you what caused this. I do think that you need to talk to your doctor about the cramp that you are experiencing asap.

Hello Julie

I'm with Angus: am so glad you've posted

And I too think you should contact your dr about this pain in your shins. Pain in this region can have several causes...and in patients like us, there can be several overlapping causes.

E.g. my version of lower leg + feet pain involves vascular lupus + ehlers danios & Sjogrens + primary immunodeficiency along with tendon tightening + raynauds + erythromelalgia. Now my medics & I have figured this out + got me on the right meds & rehab physio routine, my version of lower leg + feet pain etc is damped down enough to mean I'm much more comfortable and my quality of life is greater...we did need time & determination to investigate this & figure it out, but we've stuck at it

Hope you'all let us know how you get on

Take care

Hi Julie

Glad you're not completely out but if it does get worse please go and talk to GP there's lots of things that can help.

As for the pain in the shins, if you haven't seen the GP already you need to go see them and if you have been and whatever they did is not working you need to go back.

I have this problem and it isn't a nice feeling, I was reffered to orthotics and given some insoles and splint like things. The worst time for me is getting up in the morning, I feel like I'm on stilts and going to fall over! I also treat myself to a massage which helps my mind as well as my tired achy body.

Hope today's a better day for you. 🙂

Yes. My doc recommended magnesium citrate and wearing different shoes which allow my feet to feel the ground. Problem solved. We're all different, but that's what worked for me. 4373

Hi if the pain in calfs starts with walking and is relieved when you stop to rest it could be intermittent claudication . I too take magnesium and potassium supplements at night for leg cramps which helps a little .
