Bad feet

Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble with painful feet at the moment. Makes getting about a challenge to say the least. A friend of mine said I should apply for a blue badge but I've always considered myself too able in the past. Now I'm not so sure and was wondering if anyone had any experience with applying for a blue badge?

A xx

Whats a blue badge

The badge you require for using disabled parking spaces in the UK - all European countries have an equivalent but it may not be blue. Local authorities hand them out in response to an approved application giving the justification for needing it. The badge-holder must be present to use them.

I'd get one if I were you. I'm on oxygen 24/7 and have blue badge. I only use it if I'm having a bad day, otherwise I park far away and use the walk for exercise...there's always a feel good plus!!

Have a look at your local council website where there should be a list of their criteria to apply. I used to be a blue badge advisor for North Yorkshire County Council and if you didn't meet their direct criteria, you could still apply with a doctors letter and they would send you for a walking/mobility assessment with a physio department, before making a decision x

Most blue badge enquires ask for severe disabilities or PIP level 8 mobility.

Hi:

I'm from the U.S. In the state of Alabama, for me here there was not an issue. The doctor filled out a paper I went to the court house where we get our licenses plates that was it no question ask. Doctor recommended it. It was done.

Because of lupus issues, I have had to go barefoot for the last 2 years.

I hope it is as easy for you guys in the U.K. As it was for me.
