I bought a small round wood like humidifier with a small white spout out of the top. Safety cut out and warning beep if it runs dry. Three hour choices. No condensation, no coughing which I had atributed to CH. , but learning Sjogrens could be the culprit, indoors.

Thanks for your post, I think 2+2 just equalled a lightbulb moment.

Works for me. Also helps with other dry coughs by the way.

Cheers Smudge

That sounds interesting Footygirl. Will look into it. What's the brand name? I bought a air purifier thinking that wld help, but it's not helped at all. Rooms smell nice & fresh though :-) It's a really dry cough that comes from the back of my throat & its irratating me. Some relief wld be great x

Smudge I have to say I bought a purifier first, and nearly poisoned us. You have to be so caregul. The one we got was a small black thing that, within a couple of hours had us cringing with headaches and odd sensations. Turned out it was churning out ozone, which sounds good, but too much can be poisonous. Got our money back. We now have one with cleanable filters which I think are the correct ones. Also with asthma and allegies in the house, cleans the air.

As to brand name... blame brain fog. Got it online at that jungle place, er begins with A. I think my desc ription should lead you to the right picture. We have been very happy with it this six plus months. Try it and see.

Oh, and I dont have shares in the company!

😀😀😀😂😂😂😂😂😂

Here all week folks... never mind!

Best wishes

Ps try sucking long lasting sweets, and DONT crunch, too

Mine is driving me mad at the moment - I suck on Broncho Stop pastilles - it does help it from getting so bad that I wheeze! Broncho Stop liquid is in most chemists now - only herbs in it but it works! Night time I have found (thru Sjogren /Sicca newsletter - XYLIMELTS from USA currently not on sale OTC but my Consultant really pleased that I got them from TheMouthUlcerShop on line. You press the pastille onto your gum or tooth and it sticks and slowly melts during the night. I have really slept for the first time in a year since the cured my dry mouth and cough. No nasty ingredients and can be used during the day too. Comfortable - THEY WORK!

Good luck

Thank you for your reply. I'll have to look into these pastilles cause I get the wheezing also.

My Sjogrens causes dryness in my nasal passages and this causes 'post nasal drip' which irritates the back of the throat. But because it's very thick it feels like dryness (if that makes sense! ). Anyway I find using saline sprays help's with nasal and throat issues. I use the ones that are chemical-free. Also I use a daily nasal rinse - check out the Neilmed products if interested

Have the same problem Bebe...dry stuffy nose that has you sleeping with mouth wide open making it all so much worse....I noticed last night Xylimelt had helped to clear it when I woke about 3am so will carry on with those for now

An ENT specialist prescribed saline sprays years ago which I used for a while but the salt burned my nose and didnt make a lot of difference so I gave that up

Hi chrisj,

I was the one who posted about the Xylimelts a while ago, glad it worked for you! :) I also ordered the free sample and liked them enough to buy a package, but I have stopped using them now. I couldn't get used to the 'gooey' feeling as they melted and didn't help me that much in the end. I guess yours is more dry-mouth related and mine is nasal-passage related! (My nose isnt stuffy just very dry)

The Neilmed products are preservative free and pH balanced, so they don't sting very much at all.

I knew someone had suggested them Bebe but couldnt remember who it was. I dont like the goo either but its a case of the lesser of 2 evils for me and it was lovely to wake at 3 and be able to breath through my nose. I'm assuming that was the mint

Havent heard of Neilmed but might have a look...thanks xxx

The dry cough I had for such a long time was partly down to asthma, and it took an asthma attack to send me "running" to the doctors. I actually went by taxi for the first time ever in my life, no breath for walking. He diagnosed asthma straight away, gave me a script for the blue Ventolin spray which I was able to get from the chemist just above the docs and I managed to walk very slowly back home. As time went on sprays have got stronger, had the Clenil steroid one and that didnt do my vocal cords any good, I get hoarse anyway and it didnt help, just made it worse. When that stopped working the nurse I see for reviews precribe Flutiform with very little steroid in it and the coughings improved. Coughing nearly drove my son mad, he'd come in asking if I wanted water....

I blame Sjogrens as well because my dentsist said dry coughs are a common complaint with people who have it. I've bought Strepsils, cough lozenges, drunk water, sucked on sugar free sweets to help cope. I'm not coughing so much these days, it comes and goes but its manageable now. I found Strepsils most effective

I have Xylimelts as well, just bought a pack online after trying a free sample some time ago. They help but leave my mouth coated in what feels like minty chalk but they do help. Give them a go :)

Hi, I have a cough on and off all the time since having pneumonia, I have Lupus among other things. Anyway I read on Facebook to drink pineapple juice as it has natural antioxidants and amazingly it really does help much better than cough medicines and with no drugs!!
