Careers & Lupus
Hi Priss ,
Are you currently working at the moment, or are you looking at returning to the workforce?
You may want to take a look at our booklet, 'I Want to Work: a self help guide for people with lupus'. You can view and download it at lupusuk.org.uk/working-with.... It includes a section called, ' Now my lupus is under control I would like to return to work. Where should I start?' This section includes information about accessing Disability Employment Advisers who can help you with any retraining and seeking appropriate work for your needs.
Yes I work at Barnes and Noble cafe, but I wanted to go back to school and study for my career. So j can maintain myself and be independent
Thank you I will look at the site
I'm currently doing a degree in acupuncture. I've managed to complete 2 years so only 1 left. It has been tough but most of the work is from home. I go into college every other weekend and do some training in their clinic.
It's something I've been interested in for years after having a boyfriend who was an acupuncturist years ago. I had a good experience with it for pain. Since then, I've been wanting to do it. Also I want to work for myself and choose my hours.
The nice thing about it also is we practise on each other, so I get free treatments and massages.
Maybe have a look at a prospectus and see if there is anything that stands out for you.
I'm also a qualified reflexologist but it was tough on my hands. Though I hope to,do,both when I'm finished uni.
Good luck. I hope you find something you enjoy X
