I was diagnosed with Fatty Liver Disease but I too have no clue how I have it. I spoke to my GP and Consultant about it and told them I dont eat much fat or fry my food. Ive always eaten healthy apart from the occassional chocolate ... I dont smoke or drink either .. All I can think of is I ate to little, which caused my liver to hold on to the fat -x-

Oh right my doctor had not told me how I got it either I am worried that I won't be able to return back to work as the pain is there all the time but sometimes the pain can get that bad I end up crying, like yesterday I nearly collapsed because of the pain I just don't know what to do x

Hi Kirstie2009, yes it caused me some pain on my ribs thats how I was diagnosed as the Consultant thought it was something else. I was in agony and some days are worse than others .. The pain, from what I understand, is from my intestines hitting the sack that holds my liver. I can only sleep on my left side or else pain will start. I also have a hernia which doesnt help -x-

Hi earlier this year, I felt unwell and thought I had a water infection.

I went to my GP and tested a water sample which confirmed this. But to be on the safe side as I did feel quite poorly I had my bloods tested too.

The results came back with hepatitis and fatty liver.

Like you I don't know where this came from.

I could see why my liver may be fatty as I am overweight, but I don't drink and I was quite amazed at the hepititis result.

I have had no meds but a scan confirmed the fatty liver.

Since then I have just carried on as normal, no further tests or further suggestions of any links between hepititis, fatty liver and lupus.

I can only assume self help by monitoring diet and alchahol intake will aid the liver recovery, or at least maintain its current condition.

I know this may not have helped you, but at least you know you are not alone.

Take care Sandy

Hi,

It is quite scary when we don't understand why or how things occur in our bodies.

I have the tendency to look up details on the Internet, (which isn't always a good idea) but sometimes I get fed up not being given positive advise.

This is why it occurred

this is what we can do

this is the outcome.

See, as easy as 1-2 -3

Well I suppose we all wish it could be as easy as 1-2-3 ( I know I do )

But every time something crops up, it seems no one person is the same so no one specific answer can be given, but wouldn't it be nice to have some clear information to send us away with, to give us peace of mind.

I know normally a fatty liver can be reduced in normal circumstances, as my husband had high readings and by diet and alchahol reduction his readings have lowered.

So there seems no reason why it can't for us.

Take care, sandy
