Hi . Just wanted to know if anyone else has suffered with Phlebitis as a SLE symptom or if it is my meds that might be causing it. It is bad enough that I can't walk very far but now I have an inflammation of the blood vessels in my foot and leg!
Any info would be helpful.

I had phlebitis after having my first son in 2004. But this was way before I had been diagnosed with SCLE (sub group of lupus with symptoms of both SLE and DLE) in 2013.
I have had varicose veins since 18 years old, so 23 years now and a few days after giving birth I had a hard, hot lump like an egg at the back of my left knee. It was painful - but not as much as the birth!
Luckily this was picked up quickly by my midwife and treated by antibiotics. I guess it was a superficial inflammation rather than a deeper one, linked to DVTs.
My veins have got progressively worse, as they do and in fact one burst in my thigh recently, and despite what the GP said, I hadn't banged it all.
Have you spoken to your GP or Rheumy about this? Or maybe Google it? Although sometimes that makes it worse!
Hi Maybehope. I have a really hot red very itchy skin on my lower shin. A rheumy told me it is likely to be panniculitis which is part of the SLE family. Over the last 3 months it's been a frequent visitor and a damn nuisance! At the moment double base gel is helping to calm it down.
I have phlebitis now in my left foot where I have been suffering from non-erosive arthritis secondary to SLE. Both of these problems followed a flare earlier this year where I developed auto-immune hepatitis. I am hoping it subsides as it can often be painful. I find the application of heat helps, and switching shoes can help as well.
