Hi steph1,

It is fairly common for short-term memory to be affected by lupus, especially during a flare or when very tired. You can read more about this in our Factsheet, 'Lupus and the Brain' here - lupusuk.org.uk/images/pdf/1...

Has your consultant suggested what they will do now following these test results?

Hi Paul _Howard just wanted to say thank you for putting the fact sheet on I was finally diagnosed three and a half years ago with lupus I have been having memory problems for some time now put it down to some possible damage due to a brain tumor I had and was removed last January as it was a large one.

I throught as my brain was going back to its normal position this was it.

Never throught it might be related to lupus

Hi

My memory has definitely got worse since all this started. I can't say I had the best memory going before but It was specific things. My short term memory loss means I write a lot of notes now. I try to let people know about it but they don't get it as they don't understand these types of disease unlike if I said I had ms.

The thing is don't worry, relax and try to find your own way of managing it. Possibly like me write down things. It doesn't matter what others think at the end of the day.

From what I understand memory loss is common and there can be a specific disease - Hughes syndrome which can cause it. Tell your rheumy. Mine checked when my bloods just incase. She also gave me a steroid injection, which helped everything even my fog and memory loss.

I'm not experienced in what's done re your kidneys and liver except they will try to take steps to stop further involvement I'm sure. That's the one thing they seem to be getting good at preventing this disease progressing compared to years ago.

Good luck. The best thing is not to stress too much as that seems to be a trigger factor too xxx
