Hi there. Can anyone tell me if we have a right to a copy of our test results, or does it depend entirely on the GP or Consultant?

Copy of Results
That information is yours, so you have a right to have it - if they are reluctant to give it to you just say it is your data and that you're entitled to a copy of it under the Data Protection Act. Say you can make a formal subject access request if necessary (which is actually just a letter requesting the info) - that will make them pay attention.
If you're asking for a copy of your MRI/CT or whole file they hold on you, they have a right to charge you for making the copies/CDs but that's something around £10-25. Shouldn't charge for a simple copy of blood results, though.
Thank you for your reply purpletop. It is copies of the letters I would like to see. I asked for a copy of the blood results and got it, also have a copy of an MRI which I didn't ask for. It is the letters that they seem cagy about. Will have to go for the results of a blood test I am having tomorrow so will ask for them then.
