Pain in lower left side of my back.

About a month ago I was told off a G.P that I had protien, blood and white blood cells in my urine given three days of medication and sent on my way. After the medication the pain had eased but I still had an ache. I went back to the GP ( a different one) to be told it was never a water infection and that was a flare up. I now have the pain again and my partner is worried stating I should pay for a scan. Should I be worried ??

How much protein and blood did they say was in your urine? The doctor that said it was a flare up, what did he say was flaring - your muscles, your kidneys, was the infection a flare or it caused a flare? I would go to a doctor (either one I guess) and ask for a proper explanation, or go to your Rheumi and let him/her know what is going on.

Hi Geordie chick

Sorry to read about your worrying symptoms. I agree with Chapter you need to see your Rheumy and tell him what's been happening. He can arrange the right tests. You may have interstitial cystitis if you get the all clear on Lupus causing it first but you need to find out. See if your GP can get you seeing your Rheumy quickly or ask the hospital secretary or clinic to be on a cancellation list.

Best of luckX

Thank you. I haven't got much confidence in my GP to be honest. I did see you consultant the other week and said to make sure that my legs are ok. It's just a constant ache but I know it's not my back. And I know what a flare feels like and this is a different sort of pain.

I was diagnosed with lupus nephritis in 2002 and I presented with the same issues as well as high blood pressure. Whenever my kidneys flare like this they normally have me do a 24 hour urine collection to establish exactly how much protein and blood etc is in my urine. Maybe pose this to your Gp - it's only a suggestion though, I can only go off my previous experience. I hope this helps a little at least!!! Good luck and hope you get to the bottom of it soon xxx
