I feel sick most days, why and is this normal?
Dear adrienneioannou
Fatigue/tiredness are unfortunately major players where Lupus is concerned. Trying to stay positive can be a real battle. It's important to be around friends and family that understand your condition and who will support you in staying positive. Often one comes across people who are not educated with regard to lupus and just don't understand. Do you belong to a Lupus support group? sharing with others who understand helps tremendously. Also, try....as hard as it might be, to keep active and involved with interests and people.
Hello. I suffered from nausea / dizziness / loss of appetite / night sweats / extreme fatigue / trouble sleeping etc etc before my diagnosis. It is horrible! I felt like I was going mad as I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong and the doctors were making me feel like a hypochondriac. Which didn't help with the accompanying depression. I have been on hydroxy for 8 months now (200mg x twice per day) and my symptoms continue to improve. There was a time I thought I would never feel myself again. I hope you feel better soon and your symptoms respond to your treatment. I have relied on this site enormously! Everyone has been so kind and helped to keep me sane! Good luck.
My diagnosis was a fluke find as my platelet count went to zero. I was always tired and with pain in my legs. My sick feeling has started once hydroxy was started and I can only take one a day as two gave me terrible headache. I get out every day for a walk with my dog. This is the first lupus group I have joined as is helping me.
Oh yes! I get periods of constant nausea. It's no fun at all! I've found that being really careful with my diet helps with this - I am vegeterian, dairy free, grain free so no wheat or even rice etc, and only eat natural wholefoods, no funny stuff. I also take digestive enzymes and probiotics, and eat a lot of naturally fermented foods, to improve my digestive health. That's really helped. Sometimes it still happens - for no reason that I can work out - but it's more or less manageable now, although still horrible! I think it's maybe hormonal with me too, although as I say, I've not quite worked it out yet.
You might have a side effect of hydroxy. Tell your GP about it and ask for anti emetics tablets. You can take those for few weeks until hydroxy gets settled.
